Hi Ennah! How are you?

"Hi, I'm very well thank you! Enjoying the final days of my break from University!"

Tell us a bit about yourself! How long have you been baking for and when did it all start?

"So I turned 20 a few days ago, but I've been baking for around 12 years - since I was about 8! Food technology was one of my favourite subjects at high school and I guess the baking obsession started there. I also spent too much time watching baking shows online and on YouTube - and this is still the main way I learn how to do certain piping techniques or even to get some new ideas. So really the cake making started from making basic butterfly cupcakes and then adapting the recipe to a sponge cake and then learning how to decorate through watching videos and reading cookbooks.

I wish I had the time to bake all the time, but I have to try fit in working on my blog and finishing cake orders in between completing my law degree."

You have also baked a classic chocolate sponge and presented it so nicely on our Beautiful Alchemy plate. What inspires your recipes?

"What inspires my recipe the most is the ingredients - pairing certain flavours with specific colours and adding textures just depends on the ingredients I start with. For example, with the classic chocolates sponge, I used a rich cocoa powder which helped counter the sweetness of the buttercream - paired with the hazelnut and chocolate spread all the flavours worked well together. When enjoyed with a cup of tea in the Beautiful Alchemy teacup, it made for the perfect afternoon treat."

We're constantly admiring your irresistible cakes. What would you say is your favourite cake to bake and why?

"My favourite flavour of cake to make is red velvet. I love the deep red colour that runs through the cake. I also love the fact that it's almost an in-between flavour of chocolate and vanilla as it requires cocoa powder for the taste but not so much that it becomes overpowering - so if I can't decide what flavour to pick, there's a middle ground!

My favourite style of cake when decorated has to be anything with fresh flowers or fresh fruit - I am obsessed with putting these on my cake! I love how they make a cake look so much more elegant and even though they are a simple decoration, they make a cake look effortlessly great."

We can only imagine the fun part is being able to eat the end result! How do you resist?

"I get asked this question so much! And before I made so many cakes, I've never been a huge cake eater. I'm definitely a more savoury than sweet person! I do help myself every now and again to some cake scraps that have been cut off, or even to a slice!"

How can people keep up to date with your delicious bakes and even get their hands on one?

"I would love it if everyone could follow/like me on my social medias!

For cake orders, contact me for more information via my social media, however I am currently only based in the Leeds, West Yorkshire area!
